I organized this event in collaboration with the Három Hét Art Gallery and led a discussion with two contemporary avantgarde film directors and a professor of the Eötvös Lorand University based on the journal Metropolis. We focused on the institutional network of international experimental cinema, the reactions of non-narrative films on social issues, the relations between documentary and avantgarde films, and the analysis of The Rub (Lichter Péter, 2018).
II. Topic: The History of Hungarian Film Criticism ⋅

I organized this event in collaboration with the Három Hét Art Gallery and led a discussion with two professors of the Eötvös Lorand University, a Hungarian film critic, and a film student, based on the journal Metropolis. We focused on certain topics: the theoretical discourse on silent film in Hungary based on the speculative articles released between 1908 and 1918 in Mozgófénykép Híradó, the articles and essays of the famous Hungarian critic and writer Komor András, and the status of Hungarian film criticism in the ’60s and ’70s, based on both underground and statal journals.
III. Topic: Watched Together – Finding Relations in Contemporary Film Culture ⋅

I organized this event in collaboration with the Három Hét Art Gallery and led a discussion with a Hungarian historiographer about his recent book. This is an anthology of his film reviews, so we touched upon topics as the representation of Hungarian history in Hungarian cinema, and the national and international reception of them.
